Finance: President Bush Ignores Saddam Death Video: Execution Video Shares Drop

The way forward in Iraq became clearer when President Bush today denied the Saddam Execution Video existed, but shares in social networking and video distribution sites such as YouTube, Digg, Facebook, and Myspace dropped sharply as the video showing Saddam Hussein getting hung started to disappear from the web. “The social impact of crying wolf is being seen here,” Jung Kil Ill, a market analyst from Stearns, Bears and Bulls said after the market close. “When an important node in a social network can cause flocking on such a massively networked scale, we can see the disappearance of the object of its attention, if it is so directed…” he said, causing much scratching of the heads amongst network pundits. “Another way of saying this is, the success of social networking sites is linked to its ability to sustain a flocking towards important nodes. The reverse is the backwash… when an important node can cause the disappearance of something… such as the Saddam Hussein hanging video. And in ratio to a nodes strength is the nodes power to negatively affect the structure.” Janice Halberstrom, of My TV, responded by saying, “We interpret this as meaning, when President Bush ignores the death video, all his facebook and myspace and friendster friends ignore it also. And any market that has placed its bets on something linked to the video, hoping to ride the wave, has folded like so many empty chairs after an alcoholics anonymous meeting.” Tom G., a homeless man found on a street in New Orleans, responded with: “Graapph UNGH”
